FAQ’s

What items should I use to build my sculpture?

Items used must be non perishable food items or personal care items such as laundry detergent, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene, or even pet food! Check out our most needed items here. You may also use supportive items such as shelving or signage for 50% of your sculpture.

Does my sculpture have to fit a certain theme?

No, please feel free to be creative! Click here for some great inspiration.

Does my sculpture have to be a certain size?

No, all sculptures big or small are welcome!

How do I obtain bulk food/ personal items for my sculpture?

You can host a collection, purchase items from various stores, or call our neighbors at Johnston Fareway. Just ask for Paul or Merlin to place a bulk order and support a great local business. Note: Please save your boxes/ bags for donation at the end of the event.

How will the winner of the contest be decided?

Our judges will be Johnston Mayor, Paula Dierenfeld, a Johnston Chamber of Commerce Board Member, and a Johnston Partnership Board member. Photos of your sculptures will also be displayed at Green Days for a second “People’s Choice” award.

How will the items from my sculpture get to the food pantry?

Johnston Partnership staff will be in contact about the best plan for your business/ organization and will be on hand to pickup large donations the week of June 23. We just ask that items are boxed/ bagged and ready to be loaded on our truck.

How will my organization or business benefit from participation in this event?

While there is no prize, we hope that social media (via the Johnston Partnership, Johnston Chamber, and Green Days) advertising of your business/ organization will bring positive outcomes. We also hope community members will come visit your sculptures in person and patronize your business (if applicable).

Is there a registration fee?

No.
