Holiday Giving Guide
Thank you for considering giving back to the Johnston Partnership this Holiday Season. We have put together a list of helpful FAQ and resources to guide you. As always, if you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us!
Can I adopt a Johnston Partnership family?
No, we do not support community members adopting specific Johnston Partnership families. We have so many neighbors that we support each month - that it would be impossible to choose who gets this privilege and who does not. Instead we ask that you consider supporting the Johnston Partnership as a whole. Please consider the ideas outlined below!
Can I support Johnston students?
Yes, feel free to give a donation and note “Student Family Assistance” and your funds will go straight to supporting Johnston Community School students who need a helping hand throughout the school year.
Can I do an angel tree for the Johnston Partnership?
Yes! But it may look a little different. The Johnston Partnership does not do a gift drive or gather holiday wish lists from specific families or individuals. So if you wish to do an angel tree, we recommend checking out our most needed items and making tags based on those items! No need to gift wrap anything.
What are your most needed items?
Canned Fruit
1 Pound Bags of Flour
Cooking Oil
Baby Food & Formula
Diapers (especially sizes 5-7) & Baby Wipes
Toothpaste
Shampoo
Lotion
Laundry Detergent
Toilet Paper
Pet Food
Winter Clothing, Coats, Boots, and Snowpants (Especially toddler and youth sizes)
Note: Clean, used, paper, plastic, or reusable grocery bags are also needed at all times.
What steps should I take if I want to have a drive for the Johnston Partnership?
Contact Johnston Partnership Pantry Manager Taylor at taylor@johnstonpartnership.org
Establish what you would like to collect and a timeline for collection.
Ensure donors know our donation guidelines (see below).
Let us know when you would like to drop it off, remember we are open Tuesdays from 9am-1pm & 4-6pm, Thursdays from 9am-1pm; and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. If your donation is large enough, and you need a helping hand, we can schedule a pickup with 2 week’s notice or more.

Take photos throughout the process and share with kate@johnstonpartnership.org
What are the guidelines for donations
Checkout our donations page.
Can I donate money?
Yes, checkout our give cash page.
Can a staff member come speak to my group? Can my group have a tour of the Johnston Partnership?
Yes, depending on availability during the busy holiday season. The earlier we know, the better! Please visit the contact us portion of our website to request a tour or request a speaker.
Can my large or small group volunteer over the holiday season? Can I come as an individual to volunteer for the first time?
Please feel free to sign up to volunteer any time whether you are new or have been here before!
Note that shifts are available on a first come, first serve basis. It can often be tricky to find a time where more than 3-5 volunteers from one group can work together, especially during the holiday season. We suggest:
Splitting up into smaller groups of 2-3 people.
Volunteer with your small group in the New Year - especially on Saturdays.
If your large group wants to remain together, volunteer at DMARC! We are proud to be a DMARC food pantry, and your time spent at DMARC benefits us just as much as it helps them. Learn more here https://dmarcunited.org/volunteer/
What if I know an individual or family who needs your services?
All are welcome at the Johnston Partnership. We do not turn anyone away based on income or any other factor. Please invite neighbors to bring an ID or something with their name on it during open hours to shop in the clothing closet and or food pantry. Personal information is always kept private, and we are always here to help. We understand that the holiday months can be especially challenging.
