Pantry Block Party- Thank you!

What a time! At the end of August we had the opportunity to host our community for the first ever Block Party at the Johnston Partnership - and wow was it a success.

The food was delicious, the music was amazing, the games & bounces were plentiful, and the conversations were just what we hoped! We can't thank all of our volunteers, vendors, and everyone who attended enough. We also want to send a thank you to DMARC, our local Johnston Police, Fire Department, and Library for joining us!

If you couldn't make the event this year - we hope to see you next year. You can also sign up to join us a $25/mo sustaining donor through our 'Keep Johnston Rolling' campaign through the click of a few buttons by visiting keepjohnstonrolling.com

Our friends at Health Insurance Advisor LLC. and Cheba Hut in Johnston pulled it off again! We had another amazing summer filled with Bites, Beats and Giving Back. A special thanks to all of the sponsors, bands, attendees and everyone who donated. Together the events brought in over $2,800 for the food pantry. We are incredibly grateful to all of our neighbors for making this possible!

Food Pantry Sculpture Contest- Thank you!

Congratulations to Corteva for winning the first place judges award in the second annual Food Pantry Sculpture Contest! Corteva’s sculpture was made up of 807 pounds of non perishable food and personal items, which were donated to the Johnston Partnership food pantry following the contest. Thank you to our friends at Corteva!

Hansen won the Food Pantry Sculpture Contest People’s Choice Award, thanks to all of your voting! Their sculpture yielded 808 pounds of non perishable food donations. We sincerely appreciate the Hansen team and their hard work and popular design.

The total donations from all of the participating sculptures, including Bishop Drumm and St. James was 2,038 pounds of food and personal items. All of these donations went directly to people in our community who are facing food insecurity. A huge thank you to all those involved in making this contest possible!

Happenings at the Food Pantry

We are so excited to welcome another staff member to the Johnston Partnership team! Taylor doesn’t care for selfies, so you will just have to stop by and see him in action! Here is a little bit about him:

I'm Taylor, I was born in and raised in Iowa and I've lived here most of my life. I love visiting beautiful parks in my free time, supporting queer art, and I love thrifting!

I'm passionate about anything that gets me involved in my community, the importance of mutual aid, and I'm excited to learn how to better serve the people of Iowa.

If there is anything you need, you want to know how to best help your community, or if you just want to say hi, please reach out. Even if I'm not able to help directly, I'll do my best to connect you with any resources you may need.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
